Opening Times

The practice opening hours are 08:00 - 18:00 Monday to Friday.  Helmsdale reception closes between 1300 and 1400 and then at 1700.

Between 1300 and 1400 the phones are answered by Brora surgery.

The Helmsdale Surgery opens at 0830

After 5PM phones will be answered by Brora surgery until 6PM.

When We Are Closed

Outside of normal surgery hours the emergency out-of-hours (OOH) service operates. This is accessed by calling  NHS24 on 111. A trained nurse advisor will take your details and problem, and depending on the nature of your concern, will:

• Arrange for a nurse/GP to call you back with advice/reassurance
• Arrange for you to have an appointment with a GP at your nearest OOH Primary Healthcare Emergency Centre (PHEC). Your nearest centre is at Golspie.
• Arrange, if the clinical situation suggests it is necessary, for GP home visit

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
